CEREC Porcelain Veneers and Restorations

Porcelain restorations can be created using our CEREC® system, which allows for the design and fabrication of ceramic restorations within the practice. CEREC technology may be used for a range of restorative needs, including the replacement of existing fillings or the restoration of damaged teeth, depending on individual clinical requirements.

Traditionally, crowns and similar restorations required multiple visits. With digital scanning and in-house fabrication, many restorations can now be planned and completed in fewer appointments, subject to the complexity of the case.

How long does it take?

Treatment time varies depending on the type of restoration and individual clinical factors. With in-house imaging, design and milling technology, many porcelain restorations can be planned and completed in a singular visit, depending on complexity. Your dentist will advise you of the expected appointment length and process during your consultation.

When are Cerec porcelain restorations used?

CEREC is typically use when you need a new crown or porcelain veneer, to replace an old filling, or fix a broken or cracked tooth.

What are Cerec restorations made of?

At Sydney Dental Aesthetics and Implants, CEREC restorations are made from ceramic materials selected based on the tooth’s structural requirements and aesthetic considerations. These materials are designed for use in restorative dentistry and are chosen according to the clinical situation and your individual treatment needs.

CEREC ceramic blocks come in a variety of shades and strengths. Your clinician will discuss which material is appropriate for your specific case. Ceramic restorations may behave differently from other materials, such as composite or amalgam, and the choice of material is guided by factors such as durability, appearance, and the condition of the remaining tooth structure.

Can I replace my old fillings with Cerec?

CEREC restorations may be used when an existing filling (including amalgam fillings) requires replacement due to wear, damage, or recurrent decay. Your dentist will assess whether a CEREC restoration is suitable for your individual situation.

Can I eat normally with these porcelain veneers and restorations?

After the restoration has been placed and your dentist has confirmed it is functioning appropriately, most patients can typically resume eating as per usual. Your clinician will provide personalised guidance on how to care for and use your restoration during the initial healing period.

Will the restorations match my normal teeth?

CEREC ceramics are available in a range of shades, and they can be characterised to complement the surrounding teeth. Your dentist will discuss shade options and the expected appearance of the final restoration. The level of colour matching achievable depends on individual clinical factors.
