For Dentists

The team at SDAI is committed to providing patient-centred dental care in a supportive environment. We value the trust involved when a patient is referred to us and take that responsibility seriously. Our focus is on clear communication, coordinated care and appropriate follow-up throughout the treatment process.

Trusted referral partner

Dr Dean Licenblat works collaboratively with other dental practitioners and refers patients for general dental treatment when appropriate. He also welcomes referrals from individuals seeking treatment in areas in which he has completed further training, including dental implants and zirconia implant options.

At SDAI, we understand the importance of the existing relationship between a patient and their dentist. We respect this connection and always return patients to their referring practitioner to support continuity of care.

Helping Your Patients Access Care Promptly

We understand that timely appointments are important for both you and your patients. At SDAI, we aim to accommodate referred patients as efficiently as possible and will offer the next available appointment that suits their needs.

Supporting Education Within Implant Dentistry

Dentists have an ongoing responsibility to maintain and develop their professional skills. Dr Dean Licenblat supports this through his involvement in teaching and mentoring programs for dental practitioners both in Australia and overseas. He also continues to undertake further education to support his work in implant-related dentistry.

Dedicated to ongoing training and development.

Dr Dean Licenblat and Dr Melissa Licenblat are highly committed to keeping up to date with modern dental techniques and dental tehnology.  Dr Dean has completed a Master’s degree from the Goethe University in Frankfurt with a focus on Oral Implantology and Bone Grafting and regularly attends and lectures at surgical conferences both locally and internationally.  Dr Licenblat is Treasurer of the ASID (Australian Society of Implant Dentistry) and a senior tutor for the master’s program in Oral Implantology for Goethe University, Frankfurt with many Australian dentists graduating from the program being mentored by Dr Licenblat. Dr Dean’s Involvement in Implant Dentistry

He performs implant-related procedures at the practice and is involved in teaching programs for dental practitioners in Australia and internationally.

Inhouse sedation services

For patients who feel anxious about dental treatment, SDAI offers in-chair IV sedation for those assessed as suitable. This service is provided by Dr Melissa Licenblat, a Principal Dentist who has completed postgraduate training in Conscious Sedation and Pain Control. IV sedation may allow some procedures to be carried out in the chair at our Martin Place practice, depending on individual clinical needs.

Mobile Sedation Services

In addition to providing in-chair IV sedation (twilight sedation) at Sydney Dental Aesthetics & Implants, Dr Melissa Licenblat offers mobile IV sedation services for referring dentists across New South Wales.

Dr Melissa can attend your practice to provide IV sedation for eligible patients, supporting you in carrying out treatment within your own clinic. She has completed a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Conscious Sedation and Pain Control) and primarily provides IV sedation as part of her clinical work.

Her mobile service is available to practices in Sydney, the Central Coast, Wollongong, Goulburn and surrounding regions.

Here to help you and your patients

We support referring practitioners and colleagues and understand that complex situations can occasionally arise. If you require input or wish to discuss a case, our team is available to provide assistance where appropriate. Dentists are also welcome to attend appointments with their patients, and there is an opportunity to observe the clinical process alongside Dr Dean Licenblat.

Supporting Patients Throughout Their Care

Dental treatment can feel stressful for some patients, and our team works to create a calm and supportive environment during each stage of their care. Dr Dean and Dr Melissa Licenblat, together with the SDAI team, focus on communication, reassurance and continuity throughout the treatment process.

FAQs for Referring Dentists

Yes. You can request that SDAI complete the surgical phase and return the patient to you for the restorative phase. Alternatively, you can request both surgical and prosthetic treatment. Please indicate your preferred scope of treatment in the referral so the responsibilities can be discussed and coordinated.

Treatment time varies according to the number and position of implants, healing, bone and soft tissue requirements, the type of restoration and whether additional procedures such as bone grafting are required. Some treatment can be completed in fewer stages, while grafted or more complex cases may require a longer sequence. SDAI provides an individual treatment plan after assessment so the expected stages and timing can be discussed before treatment begins.

SDAI respects the relationship between patients and their referring dentist. Once the agreed treatment at SDAI is complete, the patient can return to your care for ongoing general dentistry and any restorative or maintenance care within your agreed scope. The handover can be discussed as part of treatment planning.

SDAI aims to share relevant assessment findings, treatment plans and progress updates with the referring practitioner. The communication required will depend on the reason for referral and the agreed treatment scope, particularly when surgical and restorative care are being provided by different practitioners.

Please include the reason for referral and any relevant clinical notes, photographs or imaging already available, such as periapical radiographs, an OPG or a CBCT scan. Details of previous implant treatment are helpful where relevant. Supporting files can be uploaded through SDAI’s online referral form; further records or imaging may be requested after assessment.
