Dr Melissa Licenblat – Dental Sedationist

Dr. Melissa Licenblat

Caring for Sydney’s Patients with Sleep Dentistry

Some patients find dental treatment challenging due to anxiety or previous experiences. For individuals who may benefit from sedation during their appointments, Dr Melissa Licenblat offers in-chair IV sedation following a suitability assessment.

Dr Melissa Licenblat is a Principal Dentist at Sydney Dental Aesthetics & Implants and has completed postgraduate training in Conscious Sedation and Pain Control. She provides IV sedation at our Martin Place practice for patients assessed as appropriate for this approach. Dr Melissa aims to create a calm and supportive environment and focuses on clear communication throughout the process.

In-chair IV sedation may offer an alternative to hospital-based sedation for certain patients. A consultation is required to determine individual suitability.

  • Bachelor Medical Science – University of Sydney

Up close and personal with Dr Melissa Licenblat

What led you to provide IV sedation?

During my university training, I completed a rotation in sedation and found the area meaningful. It offered a way to support patients who find dental visits particularly challenging.

What is your favourite part of being a sedationist?

I value being able to assist patients who prefer sedation to help them feel more at ease during their dental treatment. Providing this service has become an important part of my practice.

What motivates you?

A sense of purpose. Even if I won the lottery, I would still do what I do because I find it so meaningful.

Most memorable achievement and why?

Completing my Graduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation and Pain Control. It was a busy and rewarding time, balancing study with significant milestones in my personal life.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy travelling and day trips when I can. With a busy practice and young children, my time outside of work is often spent with family.

Most valuable thing you have learnt and are now applying?

Looking after yourself is important so you can continue to care for others.
