We are proud at Sydney Dental Aesthetics and Implants (SDAI) to practice holistic and minimally invasive dentistry. Ozone Dentistry is a big part of this and a step into the future.
What is Ozone Dentistry?
Ozone Dentistry is where we use ozone as an additional component to dental treatments. It is a powerful disinfectant and is one and a half times stronger than chloride, particularly as an antimicrobial agent, which works against viruses, bacteria, protozoa and fungi. It can also stimulate blooding circulation, the clotting cascade and immune response.
What can it do for your mouth?
It clears away infection and bacteria to cure and heal your gums and kills any dental infections. It can also be used to support bone regeneration, kill any bad bacteria and fungi and improve blood supply to our mouth. Sensitivity in your teeth can even be reduced! It can be used in gas, water and even olive oil!.
Benefits Of Ozone Dentistry
- It’s painless
- Ozone is natural occurring
- No use of any drills
- Helps you regain a healthy tooth structure
- Your teeth will be resistant to decay in the future.
- Minimally invasive
- It can dramatically reduce how long you are in the chair
What do we use it on?
We use it with many different treatments, including even as a mouthwash prior to surgery or dental treatments.
In dentistry, ozone can play an integral role in various dental treatment modalities. Ozone therapy presents great advantages when used as a support for conventional treatments including:
- Endodontics – root canal therapy
- Periodontics – gum and jawbone applications
- Surgical procedures
- Restorative dentistry & Prosthodontics
- Soft Tissue lesions including cold sores
Dentistry is a fast-moving industry, and we are using modern science to modernise the industry. This state-of-the-art technology allows us to take a minimally invasive approach to our dentistry, which reduces treatment and healing times, as well as being painless. It also allows us to take a holistic approach.
How do we use it?
It is important highlight that ozone dentistry is used as an adjunct, it does not prevent treatment being needed. For example, if a patient requires root canal therapy, they will still need to have the root canal treatment. However, during root canal treatment, the SDAI team can use ozone to disinfect all the canals thoroughly, thus optimising the treatment experience.
Holistic Dentistry
This is a part of our promise to you to deliver holistic dentistry – by using natural and biocompatible material. Toxic materials can have a negative impact on our dental and physiological health! There has been some concern among leading holistic dentists about the potential health hazards from the use of materials in dental treatments that include toxic compounds.
